ok all the lift kits recommend a maximum tire size but i would like to know from people who have the kits and what they can run for tires.....either a 2.5" or 4" lift they say 33/12.5's are the biggest you can run with 4" but like i said i want to know from the people who have lift on their rigs....only suspension lifts no body lift...1968 cj5 is what iam workin with....thanks in advance for any and all info!!

I wouldnt go over 33 I have 4" on my 68 and 33 super swampers. Thats about as much as my gear ratio will turn .if you have 3:73 gears you'll have to feather the clutch to take off with anything bigger. the lift isn't the only thing to think about with tire size.

thanks for the pics!! now the only question is on chucks 68 with 4" and 33's compared to patricks 67 with 2.5" and 33's it looks to me like there's alot more lift on patricks with 2.5" than chucks with 4"....is it a year difference? lift kit difference? both lift just suspension and no body lift? ....patrick...were did you get your wheels at? as well was your gas can carrier on the jeep when you bought it or did u buy it? both those are exactally what iam looking for for my 68....thanks again!!!

The wheels are Kelsey Hayes original Jeep wheels from '70-'71.
The gas can/ tire carrier I made out of two old Kayline units. Unfortunately those wheels were only on for a short time, as one of them the lug hole are wallowed out.
    Looks like this now.

they are 33 13.50 tsls i think the tires just look bigger due to the width and tread design they do seem to fill up the wheel wells more, looks like we have about the same 2" add a leafs with 2" shackles.

No add a leafs here. 2.5" Skyjacker soft ride, and just shy of 1" from the shackles.

if you have the money, time etc. go with a spring over conversion. check out the threads on this site. I built mine on limited funds.

Hard to say. When I put the springs on 11 years or so ago, it lifted the front 3.5, and the rear about 3 IIRC, but the stock springs were really sagged..
The shackles were added a short time later.
