I've been looking for a 1971 Tub, Fenders, Hood, that are descent enough to pay to be restored. Unfortunately, the body's I have looked at are not worth the money to restore. I have a Jeep Restoration Shop here by my home, and he did not care for after market tub kits. My question is to the Jeep Forum Users, hasa anyone ever bought an Omix Ada body kit and what did you think? Any major problems lining up the fenders, etc. and mounting it the the frame?

AFAIK the repop tubs are only being made by one company - MD Juan in the Philippines. http://www.mdjuan.com.ph/ Companies in the USA are just reselling them.

I would keep looking for a good OEM body - they are out there. You may have to have one shipped from the Southwest.

The other possibility is to look for a Jeep that has a good body already. It's cheaper in the long run to start with a vehicle that's in good condition.

Thank you Tim. So are these tubs they make being sold as Omix Ada? I had the opportunity to buy a 1975 Tub Kit and I was impressed. Unfortunately, it will not fit a 71' chasis. I'm just worried that the expense of $3900 for a kit that won't work would kill me.

Yes, as far as I know. There was somebody making aluminum bodies, but I have not heard of them lately. The only sources for a complete steel body are MD Juan, or another Jeep.

A '75 tub is the same as a '71 except for some details, such as the Jeep script on the cowl.

Have you looked at Classic Enterprises? They sell replacement panels that are good quality. Jeep bodies are quite simple as automotive steel goes, and many owners make very satisfactory repairs to their Jeep's bodies using preformed panels, or plain sheet metal.

The tub was right on, but needed more work then I can handle to fit the frame, transmission, and pedal/brake/clutch linkage. Can you tell me if they are good tubs or not?

An aftermarket tub will have no holes in it for mounting anything. If you're going to pay shop rate to have a body man make it fit, you could have bought 2 or more finished Jeeps by the time you're done.

x2 and are you looking at Toy Box? I talked to him when I got my 74 cj and he did not like the NT Jeeps and suggested I sell it.

If not Toy Box, is there another jeep place down there?

Aqualoo or however it's spelled makes aluminum bodies for CJ's but I don't know what year.

Awesome tubs, maybe not concourse correct (my 3A tub has a glove box and a tailgate opening...huh...), and you have to make your own holes!

The repli tubs from Willis overland are all pre drilled right? I'm not sure what tub my cousins used a few years back on their resto but even though it didn't have holes it was a very nice tub.

Thank you all for your reply's. Pete from Toy Box Jeeps is a great source of information and does excellent work. He suggested to drive to Atlanta to the warehouse and look at it first, and I think that would be the best decision before shelling out $$$$.$$ It will be worth the $80 in fuel to drive up there.

I have to say that I am very pleased with my Omix Ada M38 repli-tub. It is built well and fits fine. I still don't understand why they have such a bad rap. Beats the crap out of endless rust repair. I would definitely recommend an Omix tub. The Aqualu bodies are great too. They are made only a 100 miles or so from where I live. Both tubs need to be drilled and fitted but it is easy to do. I could see paying a shop to build a Jeep for you would be pricey though. Look for some of my posts and you should find some info on my tub purchase and fitment. Good luck.

Thanks AVmechanic. I looked at at reli tub that a guy was selling and it was a Mix Ada one. It looked great. Thats why I don't understand why they have the bad rap as well. I'm planning on driving up to the warehouse next week to satisfy my doubt.

Willys Overland in Toledo gets the same Omix Tubs but then they take them and make all the neccessary modifiacations to fit correctly. They cost a little more but they also know what they are doing. I have seen a couple of my friends replacements from there and I have to say I was impressed.
