I have 11" drum brakes on the front of my dana 30...all new brake componets with used brake hubs and spindes. I adjusted the brakes and put the drum on and the drum is rubbing the top of the backing plate. I cant believe the backing plate would be bent up top? Where do I start to troubleshoot? Thanks

If the previous owner of the axle tried to pull the hub off without releasing the brake shoes, it could have bent the backing plate out just far enough to rub the back side of the drum.

I had the same problem. I used a straight edge and a 10 pound hammer. Now the backing plate is like it should be and it did not cost me anything but 30 minutes.
