Pricing help for top

Not sure this is the right section to have this under, but I have a half top for a 1970 CJ5 that I am looking to sell and I have NO clue what to price it at. I searched the site but couldn't find any for sale to compare it to.

Here are some pics... the underside is pretty rusty but still has the original glass and all the seals are still good. It even has the dome light in it still.. Any help is greatly appreciate!!!!

A half cab is fairly desirable, but without doors... If it were a Meyer, doors would be easy to find.

With anything where the supply and demand is very limited, pricing can be a problem. A good rule of thumb is 1/2 new if in good condition, ie normal wear and tear. New in the '70s would be about $500 for these. The main problem with these is shipping. The number of potential buyers in your area will be limited. Still, a half-cab is fairly desirable.

A location would be helpful.

 

I don't have any door for it. The PO said that they were "damaged" whatever that means!

Depends highly on your location. They are a PITA to ship, and shipping cost can exceed purchase cost. I've got one in close to that shape I've tried to get $50 for and still have it if that tells you anything. Got doors for it? Hinges and w/s frame filler plates? the more complete, the more $$ you can ask. Plenty of guys on here like them, fill out your profile so we know where you are, and post it up in the classifieds. Put a # on it that you'd be happy with. If it sells, great. Not costing you anything rusting away where it is, but it's not making you any $$ either.

 

Anybody know what brand of cab it is?

 

Looks similar to the Meyer I have, although it looks like the rear center panel on his is in backwards. Ledge below window should be inside, along with the lower lip that meets the floor panel. A good shot of the upper front where it mounts to the w/s would help alot.

 

I will take some pics of that and the inside and try to get them up by Friday.

I haven't touched it since I bought the jeep a year ago so it could be on backwards

 

Is the crease in the back corner of the lid right for a Meyer? I thought the corners of Meyer's lids were more rounded.

 

Found some pics of my Meyer, gonna have to call this one "Notameyer", unless it's a later one. Mine has right angle corners on the lid and the back of cab by the small windows, not rounded.

 

I just bought one similar to that one except its a full cab. It came off a 1970 so I'd call it a late model Meyer. This ones are the first (I've seen) that have real roll up (with a crank) windows on the doors. The down side of that is that they trap water inside the door between the inner and outer panel.

I gave $100 for it since I was desperate for the door hinges that came with it. Also mine has the tiny windows (see avatar) . So switching to that top is a future project.
