Ok so i just ordered all of the tie rods because one is bent and the others are bad but i got down looked and pondered that maybe that wont fix my problem. My problem is i have litterally a quater turn of play in my steering wheel both ways before the wheels move but its the trailing arm section not moving for those quater turns it doesnt even begin to move the tie rod sections until after the quarter turn please tell me new tie rods will fix this or is there something else i need to replace?

sounds like its the link between the ross box and the little pivot on the crossmember that is if its ross steering , and if its converted saginaw it sounds like the little u joints in the shaft to the column

Saginaw steering is mounted on the frame horn behind the bumper in front of the wheels. The ross box is mounted under the hood beside the motor. Sounds like your drag link and or bell crank is shot and needs a rebuild kit installed.

Does your steering box mount on the frame over the master cylinder? If so you have a ross.

Both of those kits are right for what you want. The Bellcrank kit should be right if you are sure your jeep is a 1963 model. The drag link kit doesn't matter to my knowledge.

Yep, those are the right kits, those, along with the TRE's will make a huge difference in the play. I did the bell crank and drag link not long ago, and removed almost all of the play.

My next upgrade will be Herm's single down TRE kit with the long tie rod tying the wheels together, although, i am not upgrading to Saginaw steering.

What did you buy to rebuild? New tie rods, bellcrank, etc. I'm dealing with quite a bit of steering wheel movement without the tires moving, but don't want to start dumping unnecessary money at it.

I replaced the bell crank tie rods and trailing arm rebuild kit and it got rid of my play what I did was look and see where it was free moving I'd do that and check where the trailing arm connects to the steering box also you can remove your bell crank and check the bearings if they look good I wouldn't replace that but I'd say depending on how old and use you will have to do the tie rods but idk you have to check them for play
