So where is the parts list? BTW looks like something I might like to consider.

    2 2"x2" rubber plumbing elbows
    1 2"x4" PVC reducer
    24" of 2" PVC pipe
1 air filter from the local auto parts
I also made a bracket that holds the filter to the fender

That is what I am using on mine, plus a small one for the vent tube from the dip stick area. It was on it when I got it, and I see no reason to change it.:):hurrican::flag:

I would have to disagree with the term "cold", but it is an intake that works!

"cold" air intake would imply to pull in air that is not from under the hood area (i.e. in front of the radiator, from a fender well, etc) so your intake charge is ambient air temp.

    ;-)

Very resourceful. My only question would be - can PVC withstand under-hood temperatures? I ask because I don't know - I do know that it gets pretty hot under the hood, maybe too hot for generic plastics. I also do not know what the melting temperature of PVC is. My quick perusal of the net comes up with 80C, and 130C to 150C. I doubt that 80C is going to be high enough for this app, but 130-150 probably is. That white PVC is meant for waste water, which is way lower than 80C.

Not unless he boxed in the air filter to "seal" it from the rest of the underhood enviroment. The term "cold air intake" is highly abused these days when it comes to describing an intake system that isn't stock.

My VW drag car had it's dual throttle bodies pulling from the outer edges of the engine bay, with scoops up by the rear quarter windows drawing in cool air to feed them. My intake temps were still 35 degrees higher than ambient air temps going through the traps (i.e. if it were a 70 degree day, my intake temps into the velocity stacks was 105). I have since rebuilt my intake to draw from a NACA scoop in the rear quarter window, well away from the engine bay, and now my intake air temps are ambient air temps. But simply putting it near a fresh air source, doesn't mean it will pull all of its air from it. Kind of the "lead a horse to water, cant make it drink it" type of thing.

For my CJ, it also has "cold air intake", as I have ducted the intake hose to the air filter to the fresh air hose for the old heater system:

All intake air is drawn from in front of the radiator. (air filter housing is junkyarded from an 89 S-blazer and connected with a 4" aluminum flu vent elbow if anyone wants to do the same)

But his intake will work fine (I too have used plenty of plumbing supply pieces on my cars), and is likley pulling in "not as hot" of air as the simple round filter sitting on the carb would be. I'd rather see a paper, or even a foam filter on the end of it instead of gauze (assuming this Jeep will be driven in dirt/dusty conditions) but that's a whole other subject all together. ;-)

The answer to that is yes.
I know guys that are running pvc intake manifolds on Goldwings for the last 5 or so years.

Good idea, as long as you don't do deep water crossings...

The YJ's air intake was too low, he didn't make it.

That is pretty cool! My wife won't let me go through anything like that.

Good thing to keep in mind (pop off the air hose to the filter) before crossing any real deep water!

Swimming with pants on stinks. Although mud that deep is worse. Been there. At least the water is clean lol.
