Anyone running 34's on a flat fender

My NDT's are unzipping, literally, unzipping on the sidewalls. Along with getting the carb fixed (doing that myself) I'd probably getting some new pizza cutters for a 15" rim.
It's looking like 32x9.5R15 or the narrow SS in 34" flavor....
I realize suspension mods may be necessary (or some trimming )
Advice?

 

I run one of my flatfenders w/ 33"s and a stock 4 banger w/ hei conversion and the other w/ 35"s. I have 2" lift springs on them with a small shackle lift. To get a small amout of lift I use 3/8 flat strap and make a crossmember in the middle of shackle so I dont have to do any trimming mods. But that being said I dont go overboard with the shackles either. I also use to run 34.9.5x15 ss's on one and liked the look and got along fine with same lift. May buy another set again someday as the look is way cool

 

And what motor did you run with the 34's?

 

i think your pushing it with 34's and the four banger, might be alright to zip around town under 40 mph.

I ran 34's under mine for a while. 2.5 skyjacker springs and taller shackles.Power suffered pretty badly with the flathead. Off road suffered greatly,2 low was your only option due to loss of power and everything rubbed everywhere.
If you just want to ride around town and look cool it's ok, for trailriding stick with 32's.
I am running 7.50x16's(31.5") they work very well on the trail.

 

Never tried 34's, but the 33-12.5 BFG's on the 3B still rub on the rear wheel cutouts (un-trimed) at full compression with 2.5" Rancho springs, about 1" on the shackles, and a 1" body lift. I don't think I would even want to try anything more than 32's with either 134 and assumed 5.38 gears unless you have the T98. Even at that, you will be using low a lot.

 

Not a flatty, but I just replaced my 35 12.5 with some 33 12.5 BFG KM2's on my A1. With the 5.38, no problem cruising the neighborhood in 3rd gear high range now. I have the Black Diamond 3" lift. With the 35's could really only use second below 30 mph. I considered 34 10.5 LTB's, but not convinced they were that much smaller than the 35's... If you have 4.88's, I think I would stay with 32's or less.

Sammy, to answer your earlier question, I ran those with an L-head and also with a chevy V8 and yes there was a slight difference:twisted: but if you are going to off road with them and not be driving long hilly hi-way's you will be ok. If you can get clearance you will like them and yes yes it robs power and yes its not great on your stock axles but really I noticed with the 9.5's I ran that they robbed way less power than my 33x12.50's that I currently still run on my L-head. It is a cruiser, yes a slow cruiser but I didnt build it for speed just nostalgia that's why it didnt get pulled for a v6. The 9.5's take up way less surface area in my opinion than a 33x12.50 or a 32x11.5 and are not as hard get rolling
