I snagged a set of seats at the JY, they are out of a 74 cj5, should the passenger seat fold and tumble? it has a pull handle under the front that runs to a latch in the back, but the seat does not seem to budge when you try to fold it down.

Yes, it should fold and tumble. The DS seat looks right for a '74, but the PS looks '76 or later. The '76 or later does not fold, but instead the whole seat moves forward on a pantograph bracket.

That back seat is a real find.

some did , some didn't. The seat in my 66 cj6 folded and tumbled, the seats in a 61-62 parts Jeep I had only folded

All the '74 passenger seats fold and tumble, AFAIK. Even the 60-40 bench seat does.

Really i thought the two front seats looked exactly alike, but granted, i didn't look too closely, i was too excited.

The latch on the back of the pass seat has a double latch, the lower portion moves toward the front of the jeep and releases it from the floor, then there is a latch at the top that looks like it locks the folding function, but the seat just does not move.

The latch is all one peice and moves when you pull the lever at the front of the seat.

Bolsters are smaller on the later seat, and the fabric panel is a different color or texture. Haven't really thought about the specific differences until now, but the passenger seat is definitely not right for a '74.

i was just out in the garage checking out the seats, it is a fold and tumble, it just needed a little persuasion, and all three seats are the same pattern, exactly, the driver seat bolsters look different because it is flattened out a bit, the passenger seat looks like it was never used.

I also nabbed some seats out of a 74 for my 72. HOwever, the passenger side seat on mine doesn't line up wiith the catch on the floor. In other words, the seat folds and tumbles, but when in the upright positon the latch on the seat doesn't line up with teh hook/attacment point on the floor. Haven't figured this one out yet.
