I have a 67 cj 5 225 v6.I am to the point of a rebuild and I am ready to wire it.
I am using an Easy Wire 12 circuit wiring harness but I am at a loss of what to do next.
I have wires ran from the front and going toward the back.
I am located Washington state and if anyone knows how to help me I would sure appreaciate it!

    Thank you in advance!

If you could post pictures of what you have and where you are in the process it would probably help. Someone here will probably know just what to do.

does EZ wire not furnish a manual with their harness kits ?
not demeaning the poster, just wonder if they do or not.
it's a matter of bunching the wires up and routing them where they need to go.
each wire should be ID'd for it's specific purpose.
either way, the guys here should be able to talk you through it.

The last one I got had a diagram and some instructions...

Just grab a circut at the front and start running it. Run the wires to where they go before hooking them up. Start with the lights and go from there.

From my experience the only real difficult part of the EZ wire wiring setup is the spartan turn signal the rest of it is pretty straight forward. Since this is your 1st time do not and I repeat do not cut the wires, wire it all up and then go back and cut them to length once everything works, then tidy it all up. Otherwise Warlock is right!!

I went the cheap route and bought a Northwest autowire harness for $100. It didn't come with all the wires I need but if I get a couple rolls for the lights that's pretty much all I'll need. Just do one circuit at a time, the dash is probably the most cluttered part of it. Here is what my harness looks like in the box.

I'm about at the point you are now. I have an EZ Wire 12 circuit too. They broke the setup into 4 sections, Front Section, Dash Section, Steering Column Section, and Tail Section. I'm currently cataloging which wires are in each section, and then comparing them to the stock wiring diagram:

    http://www.earlycj5.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/CJ_With_V6.pdf

I'm not there yet, but some wires may need to be moved from one section to another, and I'll also mark which wires aren't used, and which I will repurpose (for optional items not on the stock wiring diagram). Then I will mount the fuse panel and run the groups of wires, then connect the ends of each wire as I go through the system. It also helped to take a look at Boyink's blog:

    http://boyink.com/cj6/complete-rewire-with-new-wiring-harness/

    Hope this helps.

Luckily, I've never had to use it but I heard their tech department is pretty helpful. They want you to call that's why the number is ultra big on the cover of the instructions.

If you haven't done the 'workbook' section, go through it even if it seems like a waste of time or a no-brainer. Two things it does is that it familiarizes you with the circuits and their names and you end up having a record of how the circuits are routed/rerouted.

I agree with not cutting the wires until you are ready to start connecting the wires. Just let all the bundles of wires get to their general areas first.

have you considered installing a Delco alternator that would then do away with the external voltage regulator ?
it's a direct bolt in replacement.

if you don't want to, then that's okay too.
I believe with the Motorola alternator and regulator, you'll leave the existing wiring between the alternator and the regulator alone; leave it as is.
There will probably be two wires in your new harness that you will use for this system.
One that will connect to the battery/output temrinal on the back of the alternator.
The other will most likely be spliced into the wire that goes from the starter relay to the voltage regulator.
I'M MAKING ASSUMPTIONS HERE, so please check with EZ wire before you do the connections.

The one I'm looking at is spec'd at 63 amps:

    http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...1035188&forcedVehicle=true&pt=01468&ppt=C0330

lots of good delco alt info here:

The ballast resistor is a separate issue from the alternator. If you have points ignition (haven't converted to HEI/pertronix), you need the ballast resistor.

Did you ditch the points and 12V coil? If no, you still need it.

X2, I used an EZ Wire kit and ended up reading the manual first, laying out all of the wires and going from there. I started with the front section (headlights, turn, parking etc...) I initially left the original wires in place and then ran the new wires next to them before connecting or cutting.
Once I was under dash it was such a mess I just cut everything out and started over. The more I worked on it the more comfortable I became.
If you need to call them they are very helpful!
