I fully understand it is an adapted bell-housing, I took nickmills advice that it "looked like a stock cj".

My research shows that this was in fact a "stock" bellhousing for the dauntless 225 from 67-74.

On wikipedia, I found my bell housing. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/af/225_231_jeep_buick_bellhousing.JPG

THis is identical to my bell housing. The engine is a 1977 Olds 231 V6, sooooo I can just replace my bell housing with any olds/pontiac bop bell?

Would one from a 1980 monza work? I can get one of those.

Thanks for all the help guys and forgive my ignorance/

Yeah, Jeeps from those years used a standard GM part ... I wouldn't be surprised if the Buick and Jeep parts books show the exact same GM part number, 322xxxx or something like that.

I don't know enough about the Monza to say. Just compare your bell to the new one. Apparently there are some BOP bells that accept a starter on both sides, and won't work. Certainly you need one from a rear wheel drive car - the front-drive engines are different, and I presume the bells are too.

Wait... what? Come on over! I only need one! ;)

Seriously, the wreckers here are not very friendly nowadays. I called about a bop bellhousing and the first two places I asked quicky said, "no, god now... we don't have anything like that here..."
