Wellup, the jeep project is at a stand still, (weird, but it is).
It's all ready to get dirty, run the little "nubbies" off the new tires, but............
    I need a top.
At first I was gonna get a rag top, but, I gotta admit after I broke the 1/2 century mark a few years ago, I no-likee the cold much anymore. It seems the older I get, the more "cold" days there are @ here in N.E. pa.??mehh
A nice hard top with prehaps 2 heaters to keep my old bones toasty is the ticket.
I've been activity searching for a GOOD 1/2 top or a full hard top, (I've found that the tops are usually pretty good, but the doors, ka-put).
The jeep isn't show nice, but not a "beater" either, so my question is...............
Is there a site that sells NEW 1/2 top or full hard tops out there in "Jeepville" for a 61 Willys CJ5?:?
I'm at the point where I'll take a bath if I sell it, (I've never made a profit on any of the "projects" I've taken on and sold for the next. It drives my wife crazy! She just doesn't understand, "I'm on a mission from God" (ala The Blues Bro's), to save the old jeep race from extintion)!!R)
I might as well spend more $$$ on it and keep it for ever, (well at least for a year)!
    Any ideas?
    Joe
So many jeeps so few $$!:)

None that I know of. With some searching and deep enough pockets, I'm sure you can find a Meyer half-cab in good condition on the used market. Time, perseverance and money.

Should be possible to have a fabric half-top made. That's been discussed a few times here. Will likely be expensive though.

Beachwood Canvas certainly offers a canvas 1/2 top, $$$$.

Newlife may as well, I can't recall.

I had an e-mail from someone a while back who was making fiberglass TJ hard tops and started making CJ-5 hardtops as a side project. Don't know how far that ever went though and can't remember who/where.

Dammit, I'd be all over that if he'd ship. Wait, that looks like a later CJ top. NM.

He doesn't state that I saw, but the angle of the door looks to me like a '76+ top.

I see quite a few good hard tops for sale around my area (Washington/Idaho). I picked mine up for $500. The top, doors, and glass were in good condition. I've seen about four more listed since then. I sent you a PM with more information.

I have a Kelly half cab. Found it on the Willys parts board. Drove about 3 hours to get it and to my surprise it was the same color as my 71' CJ

As you can see the half cab leaves room for other things

This is one of the reasons I want to get a 1/2 top! Plus it looks cool!
There's a nice fiberglass top at the bone yard complete with doors, that I've had my eye on.
Only problem is that it's from a newer CJ5, (maybe 78 or so).
I've been runnin through my head the "how-ta's, and I believe I've got a workable plan, (the door, well I've have to wait til I see how different the windshield angle is).
I figue if I gotta be "Joe Fiberglass layer", I may as well put a sun roof in it to leak on my head!
Stay tuned to "Joe needs a top and it's not looking good"

Best part about a old jeep is........... It ALWAYS needs something done to it!

Here is a pic of my homemade half top. It's made from a full top that had a rip in the back half of it.
