    i put all brand new clutch(centerforce) fork,springs,throwout bearing,and flywheel.

i maybe have 800 miles on the stuff, and like most here who got hit by snow..parts,and jeeps show there true colors in the cold.

problem: when i rev the engine now or shift gears (sometimes) or slow down and drop gears i get this sound like i'm trying to put it in gear without pushing clutch or grinding a gear, but it is coming from the dana 300..which has been replaced also after i did the clutch.

i can push clutch in and in neutral and when i rev it i get this noise until i release the clutch pedal then it imediately stops.

i can float gears with no problems and i can drive under any load and have zero noise, but as soon as i push in clutch and "catch" the right rpm it does it for a moment..until i release the pedal..

i know it sounds like the t-bearing,but i did find the return spring hanging up on the dust boot..

could i have glazed the disc?

any advice or input will be appreciated thanks again arthur

Sounds like the clutch fork could be over-traveling (pushing too far in) and hitting the edge of the press/plate. Do you have proper clutch free play? Can you make this happen while sitting still?

sounds like you may have a bad throwout bearing....if not adjusted correctly it'll spin all the time and it doesn't take long for it to toast under those circumstances

well it's a little warmer today, and i pulled the dust boot off and had a buddy push clutch in and out and the t-bearing is just above the fingers with clutch released and when fully pressed in it put's maybe a little more than 1/4 into the fingers...not 100%..i did spray some break clean up there the other day also, and alot of grit fell out..?

i took it for a test and i has yet did it,but who knows!?

i really wished i went auto with this thing..oh well i will keep ya;ll posted

Could also be the pilot bearing. They can make the sound yoou describe also. Did you replace it when you did the clutch?

yes it was replaced...when i replace or tear down something everything gets rebuilt or replaced..a $10 part like that can cost a transmission....

like i said before it does not do this drving or floating gears without using clutch..

i think without a dust cover on bell housing some got up there?

i even rebuilt or replaced the hydraulics

If the trans is in gear and you are sitting still, then the only things spinning are from the pressure plate to throwout and forward but exempting the input shaft. Narrows it down..

funny thing it did it OUT of gear but with clutch pushed in.

keep the questions up,cause i'm sure the reply's you are giving me will lead to an answer that fits...i wish it was warmer and i had a garage else this would be tore down and i would be posting "hey look what i found" instead of guess wtf i did with knowing what i actually did..

again thanks guy's for the feed back

Which Centerforce clutch? CF 2 dual friction? or a CF 1?
Others here have had various problems with the CF 2 dual friction.
I don't recall anyone having clutch problems with the CF 1.

    it's a basic centerforce clutch..

it's funny i here this about the stageII centerforce clutches for mustang's,and i got almost 9yrs out of it with 1.6 60ft's and 7k rpm shift points...

it's all about break in and set-up

noise in neutral=clutch ,throw out, pilot or tranny input shaft or bearing nothing else spins in neutral sitting still the problem has to be from the trans forward.......
