I've done quite a bit of searching in the old posts but couldn't quite find the answer to my question. My Jeep is a 1955 CJ5 with a 134 F head, T90 and Dana 18. I feel stupid to ask this but how do you remove the transfer case torque mount? You know, that little rubber doughnut with a stud through it. I have a new one to replace it that is similar to the one pictured. However my old one appears to not be removable. So many other parts were rusted so solidly to the frame that I question if it is just stuck, or if it doesn't come off.

This is similar to my new one.

Here is my old one that is stubbornly staying on the cross member.

It's just stuck. Get a chisel between it and the cross member and smack it with a hammer.

That bottom piece of steel is actually spot welded on. You can smack it with a chisel or drill out the 3 spots.

Thanks. I didn't want to get that aggressive with it until I checked first.

The snubber can get rust-stuck in the piece Daryl mentioned is spot welded to the cross member, On mine it was a little extra work but I was able to drive the old snubber out after I went around its diameter a few times with a punch and small chisel working it loose. Had to spend a little time cleaning and some minor grinding around the inside diameter of the cup so the new snubber would seat without forcing it.

Thanks. It's off. Mine was actually spot welded in four locations. Used a hammer and drove a chisel between it and the frame. It popped right off.
