    Looking good!

I'm anxious to see how the target wheelbase will look from the side.

If I don't go with tons on my '77, I plan on doing 44's with a 90-95" WB too.

Are you going to flat fender it?

    P.S. nice welds!

yeah, it'll have to flat fender'd up front to clear the tires at compression.
I hope to get the scout box on and springs swapped in the next few days, so I'll grab a profile shot. I actually think it looks close to stock at 90" without being too obvious with a front frame stretch. I'll push the rear back later on when I feel like another build and the wife gets tired of the classic look.

I've been so busy working on it that I haven't taken anymore pics! I'll run a 33 now, but maybe limit to a 35 in the future. More of a fun trail rig that I can never worry about breaking stuff. I am just waiting on my crown brake lines to show up and then I can install the brakes. Steering and suspension is done! Here's a crappy cell phone pic of the scout box and frame plates that were a pain to make!

Should be driving it next week and then I can get some better pics. I dod go ahead and order an HEI and will install a quadrajet carb for now and do the wiring and fuel injection later down the road.

You do good work ,I extended my frame horns on my 74 cj-5 about 4 inches and made a new steering box bracket like the heavy duty ones on 80 model jeeps. I wish I had gone with the scout or toyota steering box. Hw much did you say you are moving the rear back.

I changed the rear suspension 3 times before I was happy. It's only about an inch or 2 back there. I didn;t feel like dealing with the gas tank right now and just wanted to drive it. I am right at 90ish" right now, so if I decide to hot up 37s later on instead of 35s, I'll push the rear back about 5", run TJ flares.
I didn;t want to have to order a driveshaft 2 times, since I havn't decided if I'll run the Dana 20 with a high angle E brake, or a scout 300.

Just a thought,,, if you went with a shackle reversal up front you wont need to do a flat-fender mod,(if you havent cut the fenders already) as the axle swings to the rear, where you have tons of room for movement.

Great build, I am hoping to do something to stretch out my wheelbase in the future as well and cant wait to see how your turns out.

I ran a shackle reversal on my 1 ton commando I built a few years back. If I was going SOA, I likely would have, but with the springs under the axle, it keeps it simpler. I had 12" of slip on my front driveshaft and still used limit straps to keep it together. It was too flexy....and I hate to say it, but all that flex just caused more problems than it was worth. I'm running 10" travel bilsteins up front and 8" travel pro comps out back. If I use all that travel, i'm more than happy carrying a tire in the air the rest of the time ;)

Climbing also proved tough with the SR. The axle kept pulling away on steep rocks etc. Road great on the road though!

I got a few pics when I finished up today! All I have left is install the LED tail lights, Install the brakelines and Corvette MC and booster...then get it inspected to make it legal.

One ton TREs and 1/4" wall DOM for the Tie Rod and draglink

Got the Ford towers and Bilsteins up front.

I am very happy with the width.

And not quite a profile yet until I roll it out, but should give you an idea.

I'll try and post some pics this weekend, but the main build is done. The power steering and brakes are perfect. I am running 4 wheels discs with a corvette MC, CJ7 Booster and no prop valve. Steering is the stock AMC 360 pump and scout box...steers the detroit locked front with ease (at least on the street)

Wheelbase ended up right at 90". I want more, but that can wait to see how I like it offroad. Spool in the back is reliable, but brings the suck big time in parking lots.

My holley carb is giving me a huge headache..and I have an HEI to install...so I'll spend the weekend replacing the intake and exhaust gaskets, installing the HEI and putting on a truck avenger carb that I got a smoking deal on.

So, I've been trying to get the motor running well for the past few days. I know the carb is in need of a rebuild, but it was popping out of the passenger exhaust pretty bad, so I assumed I had an intake leak. Well, I'm glad I removed the intake...[IMG]
Only to find 2 bent push rods....whoops.
A quick call to a friend and it seems like it was over revved and bent and not from a wrong length rod! I guess that would cause it to run pretty poorly on the passenger side!

Also got a smoking deal on a truck avenger...so that and the HEI will go on along with a new water pump and fan clutch tomorrow!

OK, this project is being sold. I don;t have the time to swap in a 360. If anyone wants parts or the whole project, let me know. over 7k invested in 2 months...so about $5500 in new parts, that have never been run. Drop in a 360 and mate it to the Np435 I have all set up for the dana 20 and you are set to go.
