I have a cj7 and i want to put a t-18 tranny into it from a 1970 j 200 gladiator truck. The bell housing and tranny were mated to a amc 360, and im going to try and fit this to my amc 304. Will it work?:?

Its going to be wayyyyyyy long if you leave it as is.

Heres Some info on the J truck t18 in the below link.

Got all my stuff from Hicks 4x4 about 7 years ago for my swap.
I had to take the tranny apart to install the shorter input but it really wasnt a big deal. I put new bearingas and syncros in at that time. Was About a 4 hour job once it was out of the Jeep.

Wouldn't have been the stock drivetrain in a 1970 J2000 either. That would have come with a Buick 350 and not the AMC 360, which wasn't available until 72.

I did the conversion using parts from partsmike also...it was a good experience, and not really all that difficult.

Well, there is some wiggle room for this to be a factory setup...

The 360 was introduced in 1971 in the Wagoneer and J-truck. Jeep vehicles did not have a Jxxxxxxxxxxx style VIN number until 1972, so the truck could have been built in 1970, sold in 1970, titled as a 1970, and nominally be a 1971 model.
