how do i find out what my jeep is ? renegade or....

i want to find out what kind of cj5 my jeep is like 1970 cj5 wrangler or.....

 

Go to History and Resources and also do searches. Pictures and information on the Jeep will get you a answers also.

 

It is not a Wrangler, those didn't start till 1987 with the YJ. Either a CJ5 or a CJ6( short wheelbase=5 long wheelbase=6) Whether it is a Renegade or not that we need pics or you can look in the Jeep spotters guide on the homepage for how to indentify a Renegade.

 

Can you tell by the vin # ? I also have that v6 emblem on the side but no stickers on the hood or anything. I just don't wanna put renegade on the side and find out its not.

 

I've seen this pic and it does look like that but just not as good of shape. I have the roll bar and tailgate but no side steps or spare tire, back seat gone but i keep seeing these v6 emblems everywhere and those are on both sides . I also do not have marker light in the fender just re-flecters on the hood. This could also be due to the guy i got it from he used it for hunting. Mine did not come with a blonde either....lol

by 1970 a lot of Jeeps were coming with v6s, and although the Renegadr had a v6, a v6 does not make it a Renegade.

 

I wonder what kind of wench that green Jeep has mounted on the front bumper? R)

 

Early '70 models still had the hood reflectors, late '70 had the fender mounted markers. V6 emblems on all CJ5's with V6, not just Renegades. Tailgates on all 1970 model CJ5's. Rollbar was a common add on. The tech document Tim refered you to shows what was in the Renegade package, but most parts were available as options on non-Renegade models also.

That doesn't narrow it down much does it? I thought they were all expensive....

 

So having 2 or 3 things from the pic of the three renegades doesn't make it a renegade due to options from dealer than i guess my next stupid question would have to be if i put any old renegade sticker pack on the hood would i be shunned like hanging ss chevy badges on lets say a nova that was not a true ss car making it a clone or would nobody really give two big sh!ts ?

hey, it is a jeep, put on the stickers. I run "Limited Baja Edtion" stickers on my jeeps and am amazed how many people tell me they had one of those once
