So, speaking of getting old heaters working in these old Jeeps.....I'm going to need a control panel of some kind with two levers and two cables. One for the heat/defrost diverter and one for the water flow/temp control valve. I'd prefer something that would clamp or screw onto the lip on the bottom edge of the dash.

Does anybody have any suggestions and/or photos? I'm open to everything from junkyard stuff to custom hot-rod parts made from billet aluminum.

    Whatcha got?

Now that's a prospect! I had no visual to refer to. I just called a Jeep salvage place, and they have a '74 coming in tomorrow that might have that panel in it. Road trip!

Anybody have a better photo of one? I've found sources for cables that mount in the dash on later models, might be able to use those in a custom-made panel. I can make a steel panel no problem. The cables are my concern. I was visualizing levers, didn't think about pull-push knobs, those might even be better.

I will try to get you some pictures. You are welcome to come down and look at it in person if you are in need of a little road trip! I'll even let play with it.

Speaking of heaters, the replacement heater with an extra defrost fan built in is close to being ready! Here is a link http://www.aquahotoffroad.com/Pages/products.html They are tuning up the mold for the one that will fit in the same place as the original on a cj5 (it's actually smaller than the original!). I can't wait to only have to use the ice scraper on the outside!

I'll try to snap a pic tomorrow. As was mentioned, it's pretty cracked out. I would recommend thinking about reinforcing it, if you go with that particular panel.

I can make a CNC'd aluminum one if I have an idea of size and knob sizes. Shouldn't cost much and would look great when done. Heck I can even engrave the wording in it.

Cool! I need to make a trip to FN Jeep anyway. Your cell # still 685*?

I'll definitely keep that in mind! That will be a long ways down the road though. Lots of test fitting & etc. to do first, and the frame & tub aren't even here.

Don't know if there is any difference between the years but my 73 panel has a steel backing and a support rod that goes to the firewall. I have Reefed on it several times and had no problems (stiff cables).
