They're by-god-heavy too, avoid getting body parts under it where they can be mashed. AMHIK.

I did mine on a Lhead but I had to grind a hair off of the starter flange due to interference with the block. Just a hair. I fought and fought to get the bolts to line up before I realized that was the problem.

ive never done one of these swaps but the small blue wire all by itself on the old starter should be your triger wire from the ignition switch and from what i can see in the pic with the new starter yes that is where it should go

i just hooked it up and it works fine.
but now i have yet another burning question.
do i need to do anything with this wire?

i am probably just being a worry wart but i am afraid of screwing something up and causing damage.

I don't know what that's for, but, you need to crimp a spade on that switch wire...

Came with the starter, yes? Then it's to do with the Toyota app. If your Jeep starts and runs without it, tape it off (or clip it off) and forget it.

Yes, you need a push-on connector for the solenoid. The spade is the male part, IIRC. I also wonder about the bare spot on that white wire.

I thought there was a male spade, and a female spade connector.

Don't know. I thought it's a spade, like a garden spade. A female spade connector would match with a male spade, I presume.

Digikey says the two-pronged connector is a spade.

the extra wire went to the coil on the toyota to give it 12 full volts when starting you dont need it on your application

i bet my flywheel teeth are worn.

i guess i am just going to drive it until this new starter dies.
then either replace it or just park it for a year or so until i can afford to replace the flywheel.
and if that is the case .
there goes any hope of getting an overdrive this or next year.
    crap.......
    on the other hand.
    hopefully i am wrong again.
    that happens a lot!
