V6 front seal

    I'm getting ready to replace the front seal in my V6. It currently has the rope type seal but I ordered a rubber replacement. Is it as simple as knocking out the old seal and driving in the new one? I've changed front seals before but have no experience with rope seals.

    There's a metal retainer in there behind the rope seal that should be "staked" in. After you remove that, you'll need to carefully file down the spots that were staked in the aluminum cover....
    At least that's how mine was.
