Can anyone out there help me? I have a 73 CJ5 and I want to install hub caps. I found a set on Ebay, measured the wheel, and the ring within the wheel and the hubcap seemed to match at 10 and 1/4 inches. Thety arrived Saturday and they do not fit. Am I missing something? Do I need clips or something to make them work? They are the original 15 inch wheels.

I've reviewed the parts book for the 74 (which I assume has similar or same hubcaps) and don't see any clips listed. They might have been part of the hubcap itself though.

I just don't get it. The hubcaps I bought have the red/blue logo in the middle. I don't know who manufactured the wheels I have but I didn't think there were any variations. Am I doing something wrong. Does the book show any dimensions?

Jim (jpflat2a) is the expert on these.

I suspect you have the caps for the 15" 6-lug wheels used on the Wagoneers, Cherokees and J-10s. I vaguely recall that they are not interchangeable. I have a few of the Wagonner type at home and can measure tonight if needed.

PLEASE! Or help me get in touch with Jim (jpflat2a). I had no idea it would be this difficult to get a set of hub caps that fits. Please check your resources. I'm up for any suggestions. Can you hear the frustration in my email?

Send Jim a PM. I'll check later. There will not be much difference between the 5-lug and 6-lug types, maybe 1/8" or so. Enough so they aren't interchangeable.

    no expert here
and there are subtle differences bewteen the caps.
the books give no dimensions per se, just different part numbers
unless you have them lying side by side, as Tim mentions, you probably couldn't tell.
just picutres and they aren't much help
    I'll measure what I can find..all I can do.

My 6-lug Wagoneer caps are a tight 10 1/4" ID, and are too small for my 5-lug CJ-6 wheels.

    Thanks.

    Timgr,

Are you still going to send me some pictures? I'd like to be able to compare.

Know of anyone that needs a good set of hubcaps? Dangit!

I have some hub caps, when I bought them I got two with center holes for the front that measured 10" across and 2 that were painted orange/red that measured 10 1/4" across, which were too big for my wheels, the fellow I bought them from sent me 2 more hub caps that measured 10" across and were painted blue/red/ AMC colors. The wheels on my Jeep are from the mid 70's according to the fellow I bought them from. By the way, I'm looking to sell these hub caps if anyone is looking for some.

There's not much to show. This is what I have for my pickup:

These come like this and with holes in the center to clear locking hubs. These fit my truck's 6 on 5.5" wheels, but are too small in diameter to fit my CJ-6's 5 on 5.5" wheels.

Thanks for your help. Looks like I'm stuck with perfectly good set of hubcaps for wheels that I don't have. Guess I'll just advertise them in the classifieds and hope for the best.

    Thanks again.

    you might try: www.willysjeepparts.com
I saw the gentlemen at our local swap meet yesterday AFTER he had purchased a bunch of hub caps from a vendor next to me...I didn't see them till he was bagging them up.
Anyway, might be what you're looking for.
Tell him he bought them at the swap meet in Ramona, CA.
