OK, I am about to tackle new brake lines. I've got all the brass blocks cleaned up, brackets, and 2 new brake switches. The first question involves the rear axle "T" block. There is a bracket that bolts to the top right corner of the rear cover.

Is the flat portion of this bracket have a orrect position over the top of the axle or is it supposed to overhang the back of the axle?

Does the "t" block that bolts to the axle bracket face the the front or the rear of the jeep. In other words, does the rubber brake hose fitting face the front or the back of the jeep?

just looked at both my 66 and my 64 parts jeep both have the bracket on the left (driver side) top corner of the rear cover. the flat part goes over the differential toward the front. and the hose fitting faces foreward. hope this helps

Mine too...67, upper left, the long ear goes to the lower of the 2 bolts in that corner. Block bolts to the top with the line going to the right kind of up and over the top of the diff, the other goes down to the axle and follows that over to the left wheel. The bracket should mount with the curve of the diff in the upper left.

So, if I was looking at the rear cover, it would mount at like 10 or 11 o'clock ?

OK....if the long ear goes down and to the right, then the ear hangs out away from the differential, not over it.

I guess the main thing is that the hose fitting faces toward the front of the jeep, right?

    Got any pics?

Ok...that question is answered. Now, does the left (driver's side) rear brake line make a wrap around the axle before it goes into the wheel cylinder, or does it just run straight to it? Is there supposed to be some kind of support for the line between that ''t" block and the wheel cylinder?

Nope...straight from the t-block to both sides right into the wheel cylinder.

Ok, sounds good. I guess the main thing is that the line stay behind the axle tube so sticks won't drag it off

Actually my new brake lines came pre-bent and they run just across the top of my axle.

Exacgtly the discussion i needed to tackle one of my next tasks. Next question: That little t-bolt-block-splitter thingy. It was in the door of my truck and the guys at the car wash apparently threw the old piece of junk away. Is that a standard car store part or does it have some magic balancing thing in it? Anybody know what it's called?

I think just a brass tee would work - no magic involved. It may be nice to get the factory item to make it easy to bolt on. Perhaps someone has one on a parts rig they could part with. Perhaps common on other rigs so could try the junkyard. Maybe post in the classifieds.

Your use of the word "thingy" reminds me of a favorite quote.
