Running in amost stock Glory..

Okay I have posted a lot of questions as I rebuilt my 70 Jeepster. Still have a lot of work to do as I am aiming for a "Resto Mod", but I figured for your viewing pleasure I would post some pics up since she is on the street now and running like champ.

I am still working on the stock 225 PS bracket so I can do the 7" Brake Booster upgrade.

Also having problems, serious problems getting the Tiger Top to fit correctly, need some more time working on that.

Im about to order the Dash plate From Jeepsterdude, and will go with new Speedo and tack, as well as an entire ne set of gauges for the Oil/Temp/Volt/Fuel.

Also I have to do something about the steering column, the Wheel helped a lot but I still can not sit comfortably behind it without slanting my legs for gas/brake. This is due mostly to attaching YJ sliders to the orginal seat risers, makes both fron steats adjustable and I kept the Fold and tumble of the passenger seat. but this raised the seats up a good inch.

I havent decided If I am going to carpet it, although I do have the audio system to put in when I get a free weekend as well.

And lastly, I am fighting the urge to lift or not. its a coin flip for me I guess I will cross that road when I get to it.

As far as the "To lift or not to lift" arguement, my vote is keep it low 'n wide! That rig looks too darn nice to wheel too hard. I've got a lifted 65 tux that i wish i had left stock height now. Thats what owning something for 20 years will do to you. You modify and rebuild til you realize you really wanted it the way it was originally.

Little update,

First off I got rid of the Holley, went Edelbrock and 100% difference.

Finished the hose braiding.

And today I started on wiring.

Half the wiring pulled out, dash cut and moving towards getting it back togther, but this is gonna be more than a weekend thanks to no garage, and rain.












And since I havent posted up pics with the new edlebrock and braided I thought Id show them off, Got to do something about a radiator to clean it up as well.






Got new rubber seals to go on, new shackles, and bushings and shocks all for the stock height. Then Thermo tech deadener and heat reducer to lay on the floor and carpet.

I have decided on a 4" lift, On WT axles running a 33x12.50 on 10"" rims. This should give me the stannce I want for the Bushwhacker pocket flares. Just now in need of WT axles want a 30 front 44 rear.

Hmm I am sure theres a hundred other little things, but trying to get it togther for the rest oof Foootballl season before I sttrip it all down and send it to get blasted and painted. Including a new rollcage and welding in the rear window opening uppers with an adappter to fit the tigertop softtop support better.

 

I think it will look awesome with a lift.

Well a lot more progress, but still taking much longer than I thougt. Mostly based on the Cluster F! of a wiring job that was done before hand.

I need to track down a steering coloumn wiring diagram, The PO hacked into this one and I need to figure what does what.

Also since I have elimated a lot of the old harness and built my own figuring out switches and where I am runing to relays is becoming a headache.

I am using Don's kit, which is pretty comprehensive, but not perfect but MUCH bettter than the painless. I have added 4 relays and a 7 circut Painless fused circut boss to it as well.

The engine bay wiring is done, just need to feed my reverse light switch and power back through the Firewall and down to the switch. This includes going to a mechancial water temp and oil pressure gauge, ran into some problems running the copper line for the oil gauge but mostly becuase of Cheep chinese brass fittings.

Also the new H4 light upgrade is in.






Interior is gonna be a cluster, again I cut out 100% of the old harness, so Im starting from scratch and modifying Don's Harness as well with addiitional relays and the Painless circut boss.





As you can see here, I have donw 2 things, I ran the CIPA rearview harness through the indow channel to the orginal mount area, the drilled a hole in the windshield channel to pull the harness through, removed the guts from the old review mirror and dropped the new RV mirror harness through it. I also ran my XM antenna up through the opposite channel, I couldnt get the XM plug through the hole without over drilling, so I pulled it through the Visor gap and will hopefully be able to just mount the visors back on or I might need to channel a bit out of the visor hanger.



Driver and center cluster is half wired in above, still have some fitting to do and wire clean up before I put power to anything.




Test fit the switch plate, after I cleaned it and painted it then used the wifes labbel maker to relabel everything. Not sure Im gonna be able to savalge the heat/vent cables though. Ive tried about everything ones 90% the other just is way too much tention.

As you can see the doors are off, they are at the uphostry shop getting the deluxe door panels matched and the dash is being recovered as well.

Im going to use a gray heavy berber marine carpet over the heat/sound shield. It's rubber backed and I figured I would use aluminum gromets to tack it down in area's where I open drain holes.

I was hopeing to get the wiring down in time to get the rear openings welded and custom fitted for the Best top hardware, I hate the way it rattles so we are gonna alter it a bit. Also I have new bushings/shackles.shocks to go all the way around.
