Can't help with the TC question but your tranny will be either a T14 or a T86, more likely the 14, it'll be cast into the transmission case. Quick way to tell, if there's a spacer between the bell housing and tranny it a T86, T14 bolt directly to the BH. Almost forgot, welcome to the world of Jeepster/Commando.

Welcome to the world of Commandos. I can't add anything to what's been said already. Don't forget to add your VIN to the VIN tread.

What is the LOW20? There are replacement gears available for the Dana 20 transfer case that will change the low range ratio. They work well, but can be expensive.

Ah, that's what Tera calls their kit.
    http://www.teraflex.biz/products/low20-manual.html

The 3.0:1 gears are very expensive, but you can get 2.46:1 using parts from a Dana 18 and a Bronco 6-cylinder D20 sliding gear. Somebody sells the sliding gear for about $200.

If you scrounge parts, you can do a 4-speed swap for the LOW20 kind of money. The swap is basically the same as for a CJ-5. Novak has a lot of good info: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/knowledge_gateway.htm

    Just don't forget.

You can not use Tera Lowed 20 with the T-14. nobody makes the correct bullgear for it.

I passed up on a fresh tera'd 20 twinsticked since I couldnt make it work with my t14

There are a 4 to whhat I understand that will swap over, but just make sure that what ever you decide you can mate the Tera Low to it, or do a TH400 Auto and you can maet a Tera Low to it or a 300 with a cheap adapter.

I think SM486? is usable withy an adaptter aws well as a t18. Not sure I just decied that when funds permit I will go TH400 and 20 with a tera low twin.

If you buy a commercial adapter, you can adapt several different truck 4-speeds (T-18, T-19, SM420, SM465, NP435) to the Dana 20. Go to the Novak site www.novak-adapt.com and follow the links.

There are some junkyard options, but they all involve starting with Jeep or IHC 4-speed transmissions that are already adapted to the Dana 20. If you search old threads here, you will find this topic covered over and over and over again. Search for the intersection of "T-18" and member "nickmil."
