Yep, will be using weld through primer on all the floor pans. The other areas I can still reach. Also, will be getting some of that factory style paintable caulking for seams.

At what point do we call it quits?

This is getting a little bit discouraging the deeper I go on the tub. Fortunately everything except the tub is still in really good shape. At this point I found some rust that is going through the drivers side of the body, has been covered with alot of bondo. Lots of swiss cheese under the bondo. I literally have to replace everything inside, front & rear floors, hat channels, and now some areas on the side I guess - there won`t be a whole lot of original sheet metal when i`m done.

I have browsed hundreds of projects on this site and others and have yet to find one this bad. :(

You do awesome work. I would rather fix an old tub like that than put a fiber glass one on the frame any day.

Thanks, I did some more sandblasting today and found nothing but swiss cheese - I just might end up scrapping it after all - and worse - we are running into real trouble with the "lost title" run around i`ve been on since day one. Seems there are some severe past due tags. So, I sandblasted today to see if the tub were worth saving - and i`m just about to start parting this one out.

If you were my neighbor you could just drop off that tub in my yard. :)

Thanks for all the kind words - I would love to pick up an aluminum body and its worth every penny. In my case i`d take the $3600 and buy a nice rust free cj-5, or better yet a cj-6. And since i`m likely to part this out, I will definitely be watching for a cj-6 - thats my favorite.

If it makes you feel any better my tub is at least that bad..and the PO was not nearly the body man you are...so before I could start on mine would have to undo everything he did ( wood grain tin riveted on to fix the windshield frame...and it gets worse..) I'm guessing those diet coke cans are refreshment..the PO of my jeep would have used em as patches...

To be honest I think I'll go with the glass tub just to avoid any future rust issues and well frankly I just can't afford aluminum

lol thats funny. Maybe I should do that, just "solder" some aluminum patches over the swiss cheese rust.

I guess mine isnt nearly as bad as yours, the funny patches on mine are the large pieces of 16 guage sheet metal that is held in place only by a couple of pounds of Bondo. Sandblaster was the most useful tool so far. Unfortunately much of the bad rust is hidden behind Bondo reaching depths of up to 1/2".
