Just finished building Tommy B's Rotisserie from the plans available here on the website. It was a bit of a challenge for a novice fabricator. But it turned out really well. And it works great. Some pics here.

Very cool! I have GOT to build me one, but I need a bandsaw to cut the steel up with. Guess I'll just have to buy one, then Craigslist it when I'm done with it. Don't have room to store one, haven't found a place to rent one.

A hacksaw would do it, just take a little longer.:)

I can't believe I'm still taking things apart! Removed what was left of the hat-channels yesterday and of course there was plenty of rust underneath them. So looks like I'll be cutting out more of the floorboards than I had planned on.

I bought a pretty inexpensive metal chop saw at Home Depot and made all my cuts on that. I think it was around $130 or so. You need to be able to make square cuts on your tubing to get the rotisserie to go together well.

The steel cost me about $150 not counting the wheels and bolts. I'm probably in it for $185 total.

By the way, the spot weld cutter from Harbor Freight is an awesome tool. I bought two thinking they probably wouldn't hold up well, but they work very well and so far hasn't seemed to dull much.

No, Pat, I ain't gonna be using no dang hacksaw. mehh I could use a gas hatchet and a grinder too, ain'ta gonna do dat either.

You see here? See what da man said? SQUARE CUTS! I want it to look nice too, ya know. :D

Glad to hear that, I need one, and a backup. I didn't know HF had them.

Where is a good place to buy structural steel? Where did you get yours from?

Has anyone tried using a couple engine stands on each end? If they rotate 360 degrees then could you not use those as a inexpensive base and just add to them?

Yeah, there's a thread about that. If you search "poor man's rotisserie" it should be in the search results. seems to work fairly well too. I took this pic from the thread in case you don't find it.

I bought the steel at a supplier in Reno, NV. It's a large fabrication and supply shop.
