Due to a vacuum leak between the passenger side head and intake on my 225 oddfire I need to replace the intake gaskets. I bought the gasket kit and it looks like the PO used RTV silicone sandwiched between both sides of the current gasket. So should I use RTV as well or should I only use the gaskets alone?

    Thanks.

For the sides, use the gasket only. On the ends, run a 1/4" bead of RTV..

    That's what I do

Do you use the rubber end gaskets with the RTV or throw them out?

Yes what they said. RTV is NOT compatable with gasoline, (or petral for you Brits & Aussies). If the PO used RTV on the intake ports, that is at least, a partial cause of your leak. Please check your manifold for straightness & cracks.
If you feel the need to goop your intake gaskets with something, buy some "fuel lube" used on aircraft fuel injection systems. You should not need it, but if you must...
I hope this helps, Matt W.

All the valley pan gaskets use rtv on the corners. Most even come with a very small tube. I always use the rubber end gaskets and just put the sealer on the corners. Just make sure you have the correct gasket as there are about ten different part numbers for the Buick motors and they do not all interchange.
