I have a chance to pick up my 1st jeep. The owner states that it is a 71 Jeep CJ 5-factory-V6 odd fire with a t 18 four speed. The frame is very good and the body is in primer-sorry no pics. It was a project and needs completion-but is all there. He's throwing in a dana 44 with a solid axle and an electronic distributor in the deal. Just wondering about anyones opinion of the combination. He's asking $1900. Thanks.

I looked into buying that project (in CT?), :v6: with factory t18 is very rare. Used to belong to a member on here. I think $1900 is a little high for a dismantaled Jeep project but there are a lot of great parts there. Flanged 44 is the best axle you can get for these Jeeps and can be hard to find. HEI dis. is also a good upgrade. Hope someone has the time and $ to put this one back together. I'd buy it for $1200 in this economy I think that's a good place to start.

That 71 used to belong to someone I know very well, I can say with pretty decent accuracy that the only rust on the entire thing is what you see on the passenger side and the rockers a little. The frame has been Por 15'd, the axle that is in the jeep is the wrong one, it is a two piece. The axle that is a "spare" is the axle that should be under the rear, a one piece 30 spline D44. Also that dist is a D.U.I which is about as good as you can get and the Alt is a brand new Power Master 240 amp GM 1 wire. Plus all the stuff under the hood and wires are brand new, never run. Including the advanced adapter headers and mufflers. And it is in fact the Factory T18, if you have any other questions feel free to ask, I might know the guy who has the answers on the history of that Jeep.

Thank you for the responses. Erik if I end up with the jeep I might take you up on the offer of "more questions"!

Tony where are you located? Fill in your profile, you never know when someone might be in your back yard. If you hear or talk to mike ( I am assuming that is wo you are talking to about buying the jeep) Let him know my phone has been screwed up, and I tried to pm on here, I have the other spare parts for him that goes with that jeep.

Ugh, I cant believe you sold my Jeep. I was thinking of seeing if you wanted to sell it.. That Jeep has a great history and I would buy it back if I had a way to get it here.. I kick myself for selling it.

I tried calling you, buyt did not get through, plus I wasnt even sure if you were still on here. I am heading out hawaii in a year and already have two other 55's right now. I needed to make room. I have the chance to buy it back myself, but I just can't do it. To much on the plate right now.
