Has anyone here ordered a transmission and adapter together from Herm the Overdrive Guy? I really considering either this or re-gearing to get things a little slower on the trail.:)

I have a freight address I can ship to so that wouldn't be a problem. Just trying to weigh my costs to see which would be cheaper out of the two....even though I've been wanting to do the SM420 swap for over 5 years

    I was thinking you had a T18..?
Maybe it was the OD I wanted to steal at Tellico...

Got a SM465 with Adaptor installed from him a couple years ago. Worked great and is what I have in the '51. Got 2 more adaptors from him last summer to install myself when I get time.

He does great work! Got a new tranny from him a couple months ago.

I would ask him to make a light crate to put it in though. He put mine in a regular cardboard box, packed with loose paper and cardboard. It showed up with a broken housing. The loose paper shifted to where the case was laying on a single layer of cardboard and Fed-Ex dropped it. It was Fed-Ex's fault, but then again, motors are shipped in a crate for a reason. ......Just my 2 cents.

Herm is a great guy to deal with. I had him go through my Warn OD, and I would have no reservations buying a big ticket item from him. I received great service both before & after the sale.

    trickpatrick Done? LOL

    I highly recommend Herm.

I bought my sm420 and adaptor from him.
    And lots of other stuff.

He knows what you need if you give him all your details.

Does Herm do rebuilt Ross boxes? Or does ANYBODY do them? I have one from a '71 to rebuild.

There's nothing to the Ross box Ron. You can rebuild it.

I've seen rebuild kits for the older Ross boxes, but what about the later ones? Those I haven't seen, are they available?

I bought most everything on his web site.. I also had him rebuild my t90A, dana 18, and warn overdrive. I also bought most of his other specialty parts. Great to deal with and offers a wealth of information. My 2 cents

I haven't bought anything from him yet, because I keep having to spend my money on other stiff right before I pull the trigger, but he is VERY knowledgable, very helpful, very responsive, and very patient. I look forward to giving him my money some day, lol.
