I picked up a steel hard top from the classifieds here, now my only question is, how does this attach? I can see how the top would sit on the jeep, and I can see where the PO has holes along the bottom edges of the top and across the front top, so do I just drill screws through these holes to attach it? Would seem like these holes would be rust magnets in the times when the top is not on, heck, even when it was on if there was not some form of gasket around each screw...

Any help is appreciated, can take pics if you need them.

I use screws along the w/s frame. Along the sides I use foam camper/cap tape (on the top, not the body) and c-style clamps like the ones used to hold a pickup cap on. No holes, no rust.

The usual way to do this is to drill through the edge of the body and bolt it down. That's the hardware that the manufacturer supplies - simple 1/4-20 bolts, nuts and washers. I recall the foam tape is part of the package too.

I had planned on getting some foam tape, would sound horrid having all that steel rubbing against the tub...but was not sure about the clamping....

I will have to test it out to see if I can clamp it from the inside, had not thought of the truck camper type clamps...

Mine are bolted down with weatherstripping as mentioned. Clamping is certainly a viable option, especially if you wanted to remove it periodically. I don't plan to remove mine.

I only plan on having mine in late fall and through winter....pretty much as long as snow is an option....otherwise I would feel like I was driving around in an oven....so I plan on bikini top for spring-early fall, and hard top for the rest of the year....at least, thats the plan....

I just put self tapping screws through the holes into the windshield frame. I believe I only put three in to minimize the amount of holes in the windshield frame. Its worked great for two years
