which tire??

which tire for mostly street driving... 57 CJ5 with power steering, 3 inch lift, 283 engine, disc brakes up ront 11 inch drums in rear..

Mud-Terrain T/A KM BFG

Radial SSR super swampers

TrXus Mud Terrain Radial

TSL Radial super swampers..

Thoughts?

Stay away from the SSR and TrXus. The SSR has a VERY weak side wall, the TrXus has been having issues of not being round. Most any of the Interco tires will have issues if you want to drive it on the street much.

BFG is a decent tire but again seem to have thin side walls.
Look into Pro Comps Extreme MT or the GoodYear MT/R

My $.02 for a street driven Jeep go with BFG AT. The BFG's can be had in a 33x10.50x15.

 

I'd go with the BFGs, but an easier question might be which beer?

 

I like the way pro comp MT tires and the BFG Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 look. I believe both come in 32x11.5x15 size. Don't know about highway handling though... Just need to get around town and highway, not interstate.

 

Forget the KM2s. They are on back order all over the country.
Ask me how I know.

 

I run Goodyear MTRs 33x12.50 they run great down the highway but are a little noisy

 

Do you get enough turning rads with 12.5?

 

I have been running Good Year MTR's in various sizes since the first design in 31 and 33's and the second design in 33's and 35's. They wear a long time ~30k miles and usually my soft top is louder then the tires. For the mud up here in Oregon they work well and In my experience just a little better in the mud then the Goodrich mt's. They are expensive but worth it. I hear they have a new(3rd.) design coming out now so I have no idea on how they are. These tires were all on my CJ7

It's out now. The MT/R Kevlar. I looked into them. $10 more than the old MT/R.

 

I have SS TSL's in 31x9.5. No problems and the Jeep is so noisy I can't tell what it comes from.

 

I like the BFG ATs I just put on my jeep. I had mud kings, they are great in the rough stuff, from what wheeling I did in the mountains of WV and KY.
My little cj will probably rarely see off road, so I have Michelin ATs on it.

 

I assume bfg km2 are street legal. They sure look sharp. I guess I need to get on it and buy some tires.

 

Yes they are DOT legal, but like I said good luck finding them for the next 2-3 months. Maybe more.

 

I have the KM2's in a 33x10.50-15 and they have been great at freeway speeds and off road so far although I on;y have maybe 100 miles on them
