I need a history lesson

    I'm looking for some replacement parts for a '65CJ5, and came across an ad that said they had a part that fit a (1971 Jeep CJ Series with a 2.5L, 150ci, L-4) engine. I know my engine is a 134ci / 2.2L F-4, but I've never heard of the 150ci, L-4. Am I just uninformed, or was there really a 150ci, L-4 back there somewhere?

    This motor was in the postal Jeep, not the cj. The cj was as you suspected a 134 F head if stock.

    There wasn't a 2.5L L-head in the DJs either McRuff.

    I suspect the seller doesn't know what they have or it's been swapped. But the Willys L-head was 2.2L as well. Unless the seller meant 2.5 Liter or Inline 4.

    In 1971 as you suspected the stock engine for the 4 cyilnder was still the 2.2L F-head.

    I no there wasn't a 2.5 L-head, I just figured the guy didn't know what an L head was, but there was a 2.5 I4 in a 71 dj.

    Kaiser used something other than the F-head in the DJ5? I didn't know anything else was used until AMC took over (and created AM General).

    Guess I should pay more attention to the DJs. ;)

    That happened in 1968...

    The GM I-4 153 was used 1967 through 1970 or 71 in the Postal DJ-5.
    Same little engine that started out in the Chevy II then into the Nova.
    Not the iron Duke, It comes from the Stovebolt line of GM straight sixes.

    OK - Thanks to all for the lesson. What I'm trying to do is find a replacement for my F-134 CJ5 radiator. Next question: would dimensions of the postal 150ci inline 4 be similar enough to a cj5, so that the postal radiator would fit into the available space in a cj5? The radiator advertised is MUCH lower priced than a radiator for a '63-'71 F-134 in the Jeep Specialty catalogs, and I'm not opposed to saving money.
