Need help with FC-150 (CJ-5)

Hey all. I've been talking on pirate4x4 but they sent me over here.

I have this '64 FC-150 that I'm organizing parts for. I won't be doing a restore since the only original parts I plan on keeping is the body and frame rails.

I bought a T98 transmission to replace the 3 speed T90 that's in it right now.

The engine will be coming out of a 91 Buick LeSabre. For free! It's a 3800 V6 and I figured that would be the best engine for me to stick in the doghouse (small) and provides plenty of hp and torque for my needs.

The part I'm having trouble with is figuring out which manual bellhousing and clutch assembly I can take out of which type and year of car, ie: Camaro or Firebird...

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

That engine has a 60* V6 bellhousing pattern IIRC. If that's the case and you can make a FWD engine work, you need the bellhousing from a 4th gen. Firebird or Camaro with the 3800 V6, ideally I'd use that engine to since it's already a RWD application.

Other and maybe better options include S10s with the 2.8L V6 and 5spd. trans.

So is this for an FC 150 or CJ-5? Your subject line says both, I see a picture of a FC.

I would love to have an FC. Just way too cool.

I believe the FC is on a CJ5 frame, basically different body and shift/steering linkage. Mechanically, a CJ5.

Yes, it is, I'm aware of that. But an FC is not a CJ-5, there are some differences that I'm not fully in tune with, but the FC 150 was based on the CJ-5. :)

Have you visited The FC Connection site? Not trying to send you away as this is a great place and most of us love FC's but it may be another resource for you.

Yeah, what I meant by that is the vehicle is an FC-150, which is basically a cj-5. I thought that since I was posting in a section for CJ-5 and 6 owners I would try an make a connection. Sorry for the confusion.

I haven't physically seen an FC-170 but I think they sit on a wagoneer frame right? I know it's a longer wheel base than the 150. That is one of the variables to choosing the drivetrain parts I have.

Captain CJ, you wouldn't believe all the sites and stuff I have bookmarked. When I first bought the truck I didn't know the first thing about it. Here's the link to my pirate4x4 thread that I started to get some opinions. There are lots of good links and info in throughout the thread.

Lifesgoodhere Like 6 Jeeps isn't enough

The FC's have their own frames. The 150 is the short wheelbase; 8 foot bed, and the 170 is the long wheelbase; 10 foot bed.

The FC's are kinda hard to come by, and yeah lots of room' enough to fit a large small block if you wanted.

    Grinsha minimally sufficient

I think a 2.8 v-6 bellhousing will fit. Don't know where you will get a flywheel.
    Where are you located?

As discussed above the FC150 shares a frame with the Early CJ5, an FC170 frame OTOH...

Sorry, but what's OTOH? I'm not smart enough to figure it out.
