Found a dana 30 front axle out of a '73 commando. It was $60 bucks with the disc brakes already on it but missing a caliper so I figured why not. The guy I bought it from pulled it out from under his commando and said that commandos came from the factory with disc brakes in the front but I wasn't sure. I wasn't able to find anything on google so I thought I'd check here to see if anyone might be able to help.

I need to get some longer brake lines, so my question is this :

Are the brake line fittings the same size for the factory dana 30s with discs vs dana 30s with drums(what I have under my jeep right now)?

Ie I could order this http://www.quadratec.com/products/22706_02.htm

Normally I'd just go out to my garage and figure it out myself but my jeep is 30 miles away at my girlfriend's father's shopR)

No Commando came from the factory with disks, sorry. The Commando was gone before disks were introduced on any Jeep.

I don't know about the fitting question, but I think you'd be better off with hoses from a '77 or later CJ with disks.

Thanks. I found it hard to believe disc brakes were main stream on anything produced by Jeep in that time period.

I did however see the commando that he pulled the dana 30 out of(he did a 44 front swap) so I suppose it's possible someone did a disc conversion on it.

I guess I'll have to take a harder look at it next weekend when I'm back at the shop.
