Does anyone know if a cj-3a grill is the same as the later 2a's. I just found out when you buy a new body kit, the grill is not included as it's trade marked. I'm buying from willys overland, but according to the CJ-3a page, no manufacture can make and sell the grill. My 3a currenty has a fiberglass grill and front fenders, so I can't use it, I need steel for a proper resto. I just wondered if only the 3a grill will work or the later 2a is the same. I know the early 2a's are different, the head lights are sunken in or something. Thanks in advance.

any cj2a grill will fit, just the marker lights are different. I will have an m38 grill for sale this spring.

No expert but I believe the 2a and 3a are different because of the radiator side mount on the 3a. I purchased an e-bay labled 3a grill to replace our original damaged 3a grill. It turned out to be a later 2a. Raditor doesn't fit, so ended up repairing the original. The2a version is hanging on the wall as garage art at the moment.

Just out of curiosity, how much is a body "kit" from Willys Overland? I noticed their ad in a 4WD magazine the other day and logged into their site to get a price. For some odd reason, they don't list a price (or maybe I just didn't find it).

It depends on the year of the cj3a on how the radiotor mounts. I would have sold you my m38 grill for less than $199, only will work however if your raditor mounts on the frame instead of the grill

Original grills seem to always be easy to find at swapmeets. Remember that the cost for a new repop probably does not include headlight buckets and bezels, marker lights, or the headlight bulbs themselves. Those parts could double your cost?
