I installed a new gas tank and line, well, the line from the tank bottom is new, I connected it up to the rubber line that runs to the filter and engine...

Here is my problem, I have not had any issues with this since install, but, the temp dropped last night, our high today was 4*, and now the tank is leaking from the new line. Is it possible that the compression fitting into the bottom of the tank shrunk because of temp, and if so, is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future?

I really doubt cold temps caused your leak....

Alright, so what else could cause it to start leaking after it has been fine for about a month?

It is as tight as I can make it without pulling out the air tools or using a breaker bar...

Billy, I dont know the answer, hence why I asked. The install is correct as far as I can tell, we took it to NAPA and the kind gentlemen there helped us with install and only charged us for the parts...

I apologize for asking a stupid question....

Are you positive the leak is coming out of the fitting? What kind of fitting is it, flare, ferrule, compression. Most all these type of fitting can be tighten too much and this will make them leak. On the other hand it could be that it was not tightent enough and vibrated loose. Odds are it was tightend too much however. If you tightend too much, then things start to split and crack. Could be that it got spit and then with driving it for a month, the driving vibration caused the split or crack to get bigger and you ended up with a leak. With out seeing it, this would be my first guess.
    Luck

PS on the type of fittings we use all the time, ferrule type, for a 1/4" fittings, the recommend tighting is 7/8 th of a turn past hand tight.

Is the coupling in the bottom of the new tank brazed in or screwed in or mounted with a rubber washer and capture nut? It may be in the coupler area. If you have any help around, simply put your air nozzle to the tank with a rag wrapped around it and apply some pressure to the tank. The pressure will cause the fuel to squirt in a stream making it much easier to see where the problem lies.
