Just finished installing my new intake and Carb. It started with no problem but won't idle below 1500. I also installed new plugs and wires and I think I screwed up one of the wires so hopefully the rough idle will be an easy fix! I'm just happy it started this is the first time I've been this deep into an engine so I was kinda nervous! :p

I also installed a new water pump, new late model GM alternator and I'm re-wiring the whole thing. After I get a decent idle on the new intake/carb I'm installing a Petronix ignition and coil.

I know I haven't posted much but lurking on the forum helped alot, Thanks

Sounds good... You just might have to adjust the idle mixture screws a bit to get it to idle. They're the little flathead screwheads on the sides of the carb just in front of the floatbowl. Good luck :)

Holley carbs have a little set screw in the bottom. It keeps the secondarys open a little bit. The set screw may be keeping it open to much causing the high idle.

    Holley 4160 - 390 CFM

Right now it's idling really rough, hopefully I'll get it straightened out tomorrow.

That high idle speed can be caused by a vacuum leak also. Make sure you have all the holes plugged in that new intake and on the Holley. When you get it running right, you should also add a piece of 1/4" fuel line about 6" long on the mouth of the carb, slipped over the float bowl vent tubes. It will need one hole drilled in it on the top side so the bowls see atmospheric pressure. This helps with fuel slosh out of the vent tubes on the rough stuff. You also should put a anti slosh vent extender inside the float bowls (this is a Holley part) to help stop the slosh too and both of these things help on steep ups and downs. :p
