I want to put a hydraulic clutch in my jeep in the next couple weeks. Can I just go to my flaps, walk in the back, and look at all their slave cylinders/masters and buy whichever ones look like will require minimal fab? Say off a ford escort or a toyota. Anything like that?

I've done a lot of searching and all I found was a small master cylinder from a toyota will work. I'm wondering if I can throw in any slave and master from my flaps? Or does it not work like that?

You can mod anything you want.
Nice if its easy to replace.
Just make sure you have enough movment to release the clutch.
    I think mine is 1.5inchs.
The bigger the bore of the cylinder the easier the pedal.

And the bores need to match for even ware.

If you want to mix and match masters and slaves, you need to dig around the web and get familiar with basic hydraulic power transfer. You need to make your chioices from a system point of view as pedal ratios, clutch lever ratios, bore ratios, pressure plate release pressure, pedal pressure, etc, all figure into it.

I'm running the clutch master from a 4 cylinder CJ7 and some after market slave, I don't remember which one or the bores, but they work great. You have plenty of places to mount the slave, just fab up a bracket out of some angle iron and go for it.

On second thought if your putting this in your 57 go to pick and pull and get the pedels, power brake master and boster, clutch master and line off of a cherokee. Get rid of the through the floor junk and never look back.

Master and slave from an early 80's CJ four banger, pedal from a YJ. Haven't done it yet, but from the searching I've done, that seems to be the consensus.

i put a hydraulic setup in my dads 72 to get rid of that cable setup and everything bolted up scary well. the clutch slave/master were crown replacements for I'm guessing Cj7 but i'm not sure. The slave bolted right to the T-14 bellhousing where two holes lined it up damn near perfect for the clutch fork. the master i had to cut a hole right next to the primary wiring grommet and it lined up nicely with a hole that was already in the pedal on the upper part of it; ran a bolt through it bent the line to fit, filled it with fluid and found the leaks(i now carry a large container of brake fluid with me everywhere) other then leaking it works great. the only custom work was i had to cut my own rod for the slave but i just cut a small piece of fiberglass rod cause it was what i had and the hole for the master. I'd take a picture but the jeep is currently out getting a little attention from some 7018 after a little frame rail vs tree action at jamboree in october.

I used the Novak kit for my 66. It uses a Toyota slave 3/4" bore. I bought a Wrangler master with a 3/4" bore and used some hanging pedals from some Jeep parts I had hanging around. I changed the bracket slightly to make it work better. There are photos of my slave set up here.
