I have a '74 CJ-5 and would like to put a GM steering column in it. I think I've seen it done before, but I can't remember where or using what parts. Would it have to be a column out of a late CJ or would a YJ work as well? I know I will have to figure out wiring, that doesn't bother me, just need to know the physical aspect of the column as far as mounting and dash mods go. If anyone has specifics or pointers I would appreciate the help.
    Thanks guys,
    Collin

When I did mine I swapped in the swing pedals out of a late CJ at the same time. Really makes the swap easy. I think my column came out of something mid 70s like a Nova.

Caddy columns are nice because you get tilt and telescope. While your at it get rid of the rag joint also. You can hack up the stock shaft and some of the caddy parts with a aftermarket u joint or two and have a really nice setup. Don't forget to either spot weld any couplings that are not splined so that they don't loosen and come apart.

Thanks for all the help guys, I did search and found one thread about it, but it wasn't what I was looking for, I think now I've got a fairly good hold on it.
