Dauntless Water Pump

I am replacing my water pump and I took the core in for a new one and forgot to pull the pulley. I have ask them if they can get it, but it would be too much trouble.

What other pulley can I use? Does anyone know the diameter of the stock pulley?

The pulley, on my 71, measures 5 3/8 " on the extreme outside dimension. I have a 350 Buick engine, year unknown, that has the same pulley. I wish I had a spare, I'd let you have it.

 

ouch! Which motor do you have?
If its a 225 I would think the 231 oddfire pully is the same maybe more grooves but should be fine much more likly to find that in a junkyard or ebay.

I would go back to the parts store and ask again - tell them you'll pull it off if you have too! The counter person at the parts store is the one that is supposed to know what's going on and help you out!

Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't let it end with "it would be too much trouble"...

 

Seriously. what do they expect you to do run the engine without one!

 

Probably they have sent the core you gave them out.
SO they dont know where it is.

I know abit about cores.
there is sometimes a middle man.
who takes them or buys them different outfits have different procedures.
So your pump could be at the rebuilders or could be in a recycle pile somewhere.

Can they find it?, probably not.
But you should press them to explain why, and where.
