I plan on getting some Monroe's quick here for shocks... had some Ranchos but then I lifted the heap.
How do I measure for them? I flexed it out the other day and took measurements at each corner, is that an ok way to? It was lifting one tire 1/2"...

1-If your shock mounts are already welded on, then measure the distance between the axle (or whatever component makes contact with the bumpstops) and bumpstop. That's how much uptravel the shock will need to prevent it from bottoming. Take into account the amount the rubber or poly bumpstop may deflect on a hard hit.
2-Measure the distance between your shock mounts at static and subtract that amount from your uptravel. This is how long the shock will need to be at compressed height to prevent bottoming. I'd suggest erring an inch or so on the side of caution.
3-Check the shock's compressed length and go with the longest you can find that won't bottom out before your bumpstops go full stuff.

This way could potentially limit your droop a bit, but if you select your shocks based on how much droop you can get out of your springs you could be asking for snapped shock shafts and brocken shock mounts.

Thanks Dummy! never knew how to measure. I have hard rubber bump stops and leafs, but I will for sure be careful on the side of caution. Are you good with Monroes? I had some Ranchos, never ran them and then lifted it 1" on superlift... Hardcore flex!

I'm riding on 1" superlifts too and would be interested what you come up with. Shockless in the south.

NAPA wasn't good at finding me some monroes and I wouldnt even try auto zone in my area, so while I was getting body mounts from my local 4x4 place I asked the guy what the cheapest shocks he could get are, and if he could figure out what size I needed, he said Jeep right? He looked up in super lift's catalog for the superide series. Same shocks for both 1 and 2.5" systems, part 85050

He's getting me the Desert Rat (store name) desert rattler brands, just rebadged super lifts.

I just bought two from their scratch and dent ebay store, $5 each 85030 for 0-1.5" lifts, it shows the 85080 to for the rear only for my 3B, didn't have any now. I'll keep checking.

    Thanks for the good deal.

    2 down 2 to go.
