I need to buy a wiring harness now for the 3b. I would make my own as its pretty simple to wire these things but im at school full time and the time isnt worth the money. Im probably going to go with Painless as ive heard good things on here.

The Painless site has a 12 circut for cj2/cj5 1974 and earier. It looks like the same kit as Krage MotorSports offers for $410.00. Does anyone know what the Painless site charges?

You'd be better off buying and ezwire for way less than 1/2 that and the kit is just as good if not better.

There have been dozens of guys on here that have installed them on there jeeps. I bought my kit about 8 years ago or so.

I bought mine from Carl Walck and could not be happier. It has new wire with old style covering over it, it went in perfectly and I have had not a single problem with it for the last 8 years. He will even include a turn signal circuit for you if you want.

    EZ-Wire, hands down.

Keep in mind that the "original" type kits really do replicate the OEM harness; that means no fuses, limited circuits, etc.

Unless you are getting really crazy with add-ons and such you should be just fine with a 12-circuit harness, and Ez-Wire is about 1/2 the cost of a Painless harness. I re-did my flattie with this setup and all of the components were of good quality, and phone support was really great when I needed it.

Any update here....I have a 73 highly modified, but bare no radio, heater, doors etc, just the basics. The wiring is a complete mess and I need to address it and am looking at the Painless and EZ solutions.....how was your experience with EZ?

I bought a EZ2Wire Wiring kit that is for a Street rod for my 3B project,, ,,, its 18 circuits ...Its like 20 foot from front to back .. It came with the plugs I needed to hook-up to the S10 steering column (blinkers, wipers , keyed switch & horn),, Heater circuit & AC R) & all the lights) Figure Ill use the AC circuit for something ,, & the wires are marked every 5 or 6 inchs what the circuit is for,, I bought it off E-Bay from them at under 200 bucks,,,I called them told them what I planed on doing & asked if they had anything good for what I had ,,, They E-mailed me back the part number & I went to E-Bay & found it ,,,I havent installed it yet but it looks idiot proof & thats what I need,, With everything Im doing to this Jeep I dont need anything to add to the confussion..

    3B body on a 74 CJ-5 frame with a AMC 360 in her,,

Im installing a painless kit in my cj3a right now. ITs very straight forward. I bought mine used from a friends mudtruck. Just take your time in planning the job and it will go smoothly. Painless has a forum and a tech phone/email if you need help. Good luck and have fun.

Had a Painless and EZ Wire laying next to each other - couldn't tell a difference. Have used 2 EZ wire kits now and am planning on using 2 or 3 more over the next couple years.

Well I have had the ez-wire installed for a couple months now and I like it. It came with a few plugs for a gm harness that i had to cut out but other than that it was pretty simple. I admit i asked a friend what wires to cut but did all the wiring myself. I have drawn a nice wiring diagram for the jeep, eventually ill post it on here for others to use.

I really like the fact that each wire is labled every 5 inches and color coded also. It looks real clean. I bought some 710 series saturated fiberglass sleeving to finish the job off.

This was the first harness ive ever bought so i have nothing else to go on but i would recomend this harness.
