I really need some help finding some parts for my jeep, I need to find a, steering wheel that is from the 70 era, I need a original manifold, carborator, and air cleaner assembly for a 232 in line 6.
All have to be the same as was used in the seventies.

I took this Jeep with me to Norway and to get it registered I have to put everything back to original.

If you know of links to place that might have them our if you might have something to sell let me know. I called a lot of places and they have no parts for anything older than 76.

Your best bet for the manifold, carb and air cleaner is probably on Ebay. If you were in the States I'd say hit the local junkyard, but that's not an option for you. You might put a want ad on a Jeep classifieds too, there's a CJ-specific one over at Jeeps Unlimited that gets a fair amount of traffic. Good luck!

I presume you need both the intake and exhaust manifolds for the Jeep. These manifolds are bolted together with four bolts before they are mounted on the engine. AFAIK these are all the same for Jeep inline 6s in that era. Any 232 or 258 1V intake manifold from at least mid-70 through 1978 or 1979 will work. Any 232 or 258 exhaust manifold from that era will work.

Your best source is either from an owner (online here or on eBay or on the other Jeep-oriented forums) or from a junkyard. Try J&W Jeep Parts in Antelope, CA - they have a lot of stuff, and will ship to you.

Two possible problems - most of these manifolds have air injection ports and are machined for an EGR valve. According to the FSM, the '72 232 used neither of those. You can simply plug these holes, if your inspector will allow it. This will make a manifold that is functionally equivalent to the original, even though it has some features that are not used.

If your inspector will not allow you to plug the air injection and EGR ports, you'll need an intake manifold without an EGR port and an exhaust without air injection (AIR) ports.

I have found a an entire assembly intake and exhaust from a 1985 CJ7 and
the carb has the stepper plug in the back of it to go to the computer. I am wondering if this will work or not on my 72 . it will cost less than $200 but shipping will be high so I want to know if it works first.

    thanks

The manifolds will bolt up to the engine, and the exhaust outlet will be the same as the original. You can make it work. Without the computer, you will have to bypass the stepper motor.

However, the carburetor is a 2V (2 venturi) Carter BBD, and your original carburetor is a 1V Carter YF. If your inspector requires the Jeep be in original condition, this will be an obvious difference. The '85 intake manifold is aluminum, and the exhaust is iron, but they do not bolt together like your original manifolds do. Any knowledgeable person will know that this is not the original style manifold. Do you have air injection? If not, the air injection ports on the '85 exhaust manifold will have to be plugged. This will also be an obvious difference from original.

These inspectors do not know that much so just by removing the intake that has clifford stamped on it should be enough. The seller says he has an older carb he will inclued so that may help. can I put a 1V on this.
