    Hello,
I have a 53' CJ3a that when I bought it had a spring lift on it. it looks like a 3" lift. I have ~5" between the front bump stop and the stock axle and was wondering if someone could tell me what stock would/should be. This I think will tell me how much lift I actually have on it.

Second question, I was thinking of taking one leaf out of the spring pack to help enable the suspension to actually work when off road. Has anyone done this and were they happy with the change? Yes I know that spring wrap may become an issue when this is done. So anyone out here have some experience doing this?

This jeep is used mostly for light to medium 4wheeling and has a 225 in it and other then that is stock.

Yes I'm cheap and prefer not to replace the springs, at least not yet.

    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

what size tires are you running? i have a superlift 2.5" lift kit in my flattie... some folks find them to be very stiff. i actually prefer them that way, but they still articulate very well off-road. You'll get varying answers here on the topic of modifying your spring pack, but i would say try it for a little while offroad without taking out the leaf and see what you think... unless you have done that already...

I'm running 31 10:50 LTB swampers which look way small in the wheel openings but for what I do work well for what I use it for.

Maybe I need to just take a leaf out and see how it goes but still prefer some feedback on someone who has done this, if possible.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
