NOT ROUGH COUNTRY! i got the lift and it is stiff as a board. i think i would have had more flex by just welding the axle to the frame!
Rubicon express i have heard always make a good lift.

I thought they kept to the 2" spring packs only.

Doh. Bag that. For that price, go with the Holbrook long leaf 3". I'm hoping to get a set of those on SSDutch, but since the installation needs to factor in the wieght of the Jeep I'm waiting till the end of the project to see what the $$ situation is.

Rough best desribes how every lift kit I've had or any I have ever rode in made by Rough Country. I have a 2.5 Superlift, Super Ride on my cj5 it's better than stock and certainly better than the one from rough country I had on my cj7. Also I bought a jeep with a 4" OME on it it rode pretty good also.

I got a 2.5 from 4wheel parts, w shocks and U bolts for like 395 I believe. It was called Genuine suspension and the way they described it was superlift springs with pro-comp shocks. Now I havnt had it over any extremely rough stuff but it seems to be alright. The springs have the military wrap which is a good thing from what I've heard....

I have a Rancho 2 1/2" and it rides pretty good even considering it has been in there for more than 14 years.
The springs are not rusted and the kit is still fairly cheap comparativly.
I think alot of the roughness also depends on the shocks used to.

And "overtightened per the instructions" shackle bolts, IMHO.

Not to hijack this thread, but I just finished installing a 2.5" Pro Comp lift with Pro comp shocks. It went fairly smoothly, except for the rear center leaf spring bolts. The heads were not long enough to go through the shim and into the (axel center hole? is that right?)

So, I called the Pro Comp Tech Line to see if it was a mistake and if they had a center bolt with a taller head. The answer I got was, to sum it up, "Gosh that sucks, go try a spring shop."

Luckily, I have a spring shop a few miles away. He suggested I get a nut grind off the corners to make it round and use it as a spacer. I picked up 2 new bolts (with longer threads) at this shop and was on my way.

To make a long story short, it worked!

Has anyone else had this issue? Or, any poor dealings with this company? I plan on doing a follow-up letter with them.

The ride so far seems ok off road, but I don't yet know how it handles on pavement.

My CJ has a Pro Comp 2.5" as well, and it does not flex as well as my YJ with a Rough Country 3.5". I had to limit my travel on the YJ. As far as ride heck its a Jeep.
When i do a upgrade I think I'll go RE (Rubicon Express) they flex alot.

Anthony: This is the 2nd set of ProComps on my '68. The PO put on the 1st set and they were the wrong springs. The 1st leaf looked like a mill wrap but was not. It was a large wrap that was supposed to go around the rubber bushing but the bushing was about 1/2 the size of the wrap. It was just slopping around. Both axels were moving back and forth.

When I had the new correct ones installed, the installer mentioned that the spring center bolt was too short on the orig ones, like what you found. The new ones were OK. The 2nd leaf on the new ones are a mill wrap.

Mine seem to ride fine for an old Jeep. Like Jerry said, it IS a Jeep. :D

I really like my BDS. The clamps are heavy duty, riveted style. The warranty can't be beat. The springs ride nice and are a double military wrap.

My Skyjacker Softride 2.5" is indeed a nice soft ride. In combination with Rancho adjustable shocks, I can make it ride stiff as a board or smoother than a stock TJ...
But this lift is weight sensitive. It will sag if you add alot of extra weight: heavy bumpers/swingout/33" tire/highlift/etc.

If I was buying today I'd probably buy a BDS.
