hobart handler 187

i am thinking about buying a hobart 187, any opinions?

 

I have its older sibling (I think its the handler 185?) and I love it, but it is also my first and only welder, so I dont have much to compare it with. I am not exactly easy on my equipment and it has held together well since 2002.

I have the Hobart 180 and I love it. It is my first and only welder.

 

I have the earlier version (Handler 180) and i like it. My only complaint is the duty cycle times. I use heavy industrial welders everyday, so i am used to being able to weld as much and as hot as i want. But with my 180, I have tripped the thermastat a couple of times building bumpers for people. if all you will use it for is light material and the occasional bumper/frame repair, it will be plenty and i think you will like it.

 

I've heard good things about the hh187, and is a great welder for the money. But, consider the price to add on a spool gun if you ever want to weld aluminum ? It is very expensive. So, if you compare prices between welders hh, miller, lincoln welders after adding the spool gun. The lincoln is much cheaper.

 

wake309 ,did you end up buying the Handler 187? I see that Tractor Supply has them for 599.00 and I got a 10% off coupon,I am real tempted but would like to here a review.Thanks
