My uncle moved out of the city and left me his non running 65 CJ5. I took a look at all the mechanical stuff - the F head with a gyrating harmonic balancer and the crappy brakes and the loose steering and on and on...I got an 87 toyota pick up with a 4cyl fuel injection and toyota solid front diff and I plan on making a toyota/jeep. Basically it will use the original sterring wheel and radiator tanks, everything else will be toyota. It will look like a jeep and that's about it. So as I embark on this journey over the winter I will probably be asking all sorts of ridiculous things. My plan is to make a trail ready jeep that I can mostly bomb around in during the summer. Cool site and I'll keep records of my project progress as it mutters along.

    Cheers,

    Dave

Only issue with it will be the length of the yota dirvetrain. I would love to have a 22re in a jeep but the transmissions and Tcases will leave a very short rear shaft.
