I just built a gun rack for my CJ5 and installed it. I used Chain link fence clamps to attach it to the factory roll bar, and a piece of 1/2" angle as a lower brace. If anyone is intrested, I can post a few pix. If not? No prob.

    Zila,

Nice setup! Quick and easy access, plus secure. Don't mean to hijack, just responding to the request for new ideas. This idea isn't new, but having a few extra inches of wheelbase has its advantages....got one on each side, so I can carry 4 rifles.

How close is that rack to the back of your head when sitting in the seats?
May want to turn it around and place the holders and rifles facing the back.
Just a thought. Looks good, to me, otherwise.:):coffee:

It is just fine clearance wise. I have had 2 rifles in there and they do not hit your head.

I like it. It is similar to mine but I have mine so the gun rests just above the wheel wells. Pain in the butt to get to when you have stuff in the rear of the jeep. I might try moving it up.
    Thanks

    Might consider leaving it down.
If they can't see your weaponry, they won't try to steal it.
