Hope this isn't a violation (posting ebay), but seriously, I wonder about value all the time on this stuff- just like the guy who posted about his convertible the other day. How much does hurst add? I'd like to own it, but it looks like it needs a total resto. And I DARE not bring another one home. Wifey starting to think I'm bringing strays in all the time, except they are Jeeps!

From the site that Packrat linked....100- wow. I guess that's pretty dang rare!

    How many were built ????
This could quite possibly be the most widely disputed fact pertaining to the Hurst Jeepster. I think I heard at least five different answers when I first asked that question. 100… 500… 800… 1,000… 1,500..... So what is the answer? Well, according to the Illustrated Jeep Buyers Guide, The Story of Jeep, Standard Catalog of Jeep, an edition of Special Interest Autos, and Hurst Heritage the answer is somewhere in the neighborhood of 100. In fact, Hurst Heritage (no longer in publication) quotes Dick Chrysler as believing that even fewer than 100 were produced. To tell you the truth I have never seen a number over 100 published in a book, and I've seen a lot of books.

    Mail Truck? BAWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!R)R)R)R)R)R)R)

    What makes the Hurst Special?
So what made a Hurst different than any other 71’ Jeepster Commando?. If you’ve ever seen a Hurst in person, you most likely did a double take. As Patrick Foster put it in an article for Special Interest Autos, “the only body color was white, which, combined with the red and blue stripes, gives the Hurst the appearance of a modern high-performance mail truck”.

I'm surprised Hurst put their name on a normally-aspirated V6 vehicle in the musclecar era.

    From Wiki:

Hurst Performance Inc. of Warminster, Pennsylvania, manufactured products for enhancing the performance of muscle cars. These included manual transmission shifters and other automobile components. Hurst was also an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supplier for automakers and provided services or components for numerous muscle car models by American Motors (AMC), Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors. Their products were included in the AMC Machine, AMC AMX, Pontiac GTO, Ford Mustang Boss, Plymouth Barracuda, Plymouth Superbird, and Oldsmobile. Many renowned specialty models were produced in cooperation with the company and sported the Hurst brand as part of the official name. These included the AMC SC/Rambler, Jeep Jeepster, and various Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds models, based on the Oldsmobile Cutlass.
