the best way to take care of the rust spots is to cut out a rectangle and weld in a new piece.

theres no temporary fix that should be done there.

Take your time and fix it right now when you have it all taken apart it will be 10 times harder to fix once its back together.

I'm so jealous of your frame and tub deal!

Found a good running Buick 350 here locally for really CHEAP!!! Thinking about putting it in Valiant in front of the SM465 Dana 20 Combo so I can keep the 225 for the CJ-5.

    Here is the Craigslist ad.

I have a buick 350. its not going to work in my project so im selling it. it has a rebuilt carb, new timing chain, and valve cover gaskets.it also come with a brand new starter,if you want i also have a torque converter that can go with it i need this gone asap im asking $150 O.B.O

    What do you all think?

Welcome from Rio Rancho New Mexico
Glad to see another CJ6 saved
I did a Buick 350 in mine with a 350 automatic and D20 behind it.
It is a very doable conversion.

With a atomatic even your wife could drive it.

I am working on a write up on the conversion If any body has any questions feel free to ask

I was thinking of doing an auto later and putting the SM465 in the CJ.

Wow. that's quite a basket case.

Your taking on that '66-'6 inspires me to get re-started on mine. I moved it out of the garage and into the shed last fall and it has not been worked on since. I have only been on ECJ5 about twice over the winter, but with good weather inspiring me, I get online and low and behold another 66. Cool.

Jeeps are supposed to be about function not form. Get it on the road and SAFE. Fix the looks later.

I think it is pretty good for less than 500 Bucks considering I have nowhere near this Guys Skills.

Media Blaster was out of the budget after busting out the Cash for the Frame so I gave it the Wire Wheel Treatment. Got the Springs and rear axle mounted, need to get to Boise to get all my U-Bolts so I can Finish getting it rolling. Made a Dolly to drop the front end on so it will roll, and dropped the tub on.

Got a lot more lift than I had planned, once the body mounts are in it will be like 12 inches.
