I have a 1960 cj5 by vin# and it has been in may family since the sixties. just wanted to know if a 1960 jeep could have been tuxedo park. the original color is a kind of pink with white grill. under the mats the floor is a pink color as is the underside of the body. the jeep was painted red years ago because the pink color was just not manly enough for the old man. the vin # 57548 113XXX. it has a chrome bezel on speedo(painted over) the hood hardware is chrome but not the windshield hindges . the hood hindges are but are painted over. the steering wheel is not the indian ceramic you guys talk about though. it has nice jeep hub caps. was going to sell jeep to a local hunter but after becoming a little more curious about pink color may want to see it go to someone to restore. the thing runs like a well tuned sewing machine, it also has a warn overdrive installed. any info would help and if anyone can help with value or if you are intrested in buying it let me know. i live in texas. oh and there are cushions over back fender wells and the ft and rear seats are light blue and are pleated.

Well, according to Jeep lore there was a Tuxedo Park Mark I made in 1961 but I've never seen or heard of one being confirmed.

Frame numbers match the VIN tag? Color scheme certainly sounds correct (for a 1963 Mark III)

Especially since you mentioned the steering wheel isn't Indian Ceramic.

i would guess that also but since the jeep has been in my family since 62 i know the body has not been changed unless it was done in the first couple of years.

the numbers on the frame and body match. what is the chance that this is a mark 1 because of how late in 1960 it was produced

Wow! Well, um, I'd say you might really have one knowing the history like you do, numbers match, and when it was made. :)

Tux Park probably was a special order I'd guess, yes. Most likely that wouldn't be in a normal shipment.

What does it have for a shifter? On the column or on the floor?

the shifter is on the floor there are four total. i removed all the plastic mats and started cleaning. under the tool box pass seat is for sure the funky pink red earth color. under the body i got a closer look and all the under side is pink or earth red . i talked to my dad and he said that the earth red color was the color when he bought it. i had the fuel tank rotted out today and under the backing material under tank was that pinkish color had to be original. dont know what this is but the more i mess with it the better it runs. i will post pics in the morning of some of the pink areas, also this jeep will be for sell soon do to i am doing a full resto on a 1944 ford flat fender. dont have time for both.
